Welcome to the Kulig Family Farm
Cassie's Confirmation PDF Print E-mail
Written by Timothy Kulig

We had Cassie's Roman-Catholic Confirmation on Thursday, April 10th, 2008. Along with our parish priest, John Schwartzlose, our Archbishop Joseph Kurtz came and performed the confirmation ritual for the children. We are all very proud of Cassie for going through the classes and taking time from her life to follow through with the whole process. For a young teenager, the process can seem like forever, but Cassie endured it all, and in the end she chose her Saint as Saint Zita. When given the choice of who should sponsor her, there was no question for her that it would be Chip (Leslie's step-brother). Chip came to the services dressed up in his Sunday best, but after all, he is a lawyer, and somehow I doubt he's used to wearing jeans. Chip was a great choice for Cassie, and not only did he promise to say a prayer for Cassie every day, I made him promise to do the same for me, because as we all agreed, I would need it more. :)

Nathan visits Kentucky PDF Print E-mail
Written by Timothy Kulig

Our nephew Nathan (or cousin, if you are one of our daughters) visited Kentucky and was able to spend time with his sister, his Grandfather, and of course, our family. He spent time with the girls playing the Wii and the  xbox 360. Because of the timing, he was also able to join us for Cassie's Confirmation. He and Aarin sat together and laughed about every thing, it seems. Nathan's good nature allowed for Carlee and her friends to use him as a jungle gym. They jumped all over him, and chased him throughout the house. They had quite a bit of fun with him. One of our neighbors (Aarin's friend) came down, and definitely seemed to have a "thing" for him, because I have never seen her giggle and titter so much in my life. She's such a cute girl. All and all I think Nathan had a great time, and I know our family enjoyed having him over.

The family visits the zoo PDF Print E-mail

The Kulig Family went out to the zoo today. We got to see all the standard animals: The Gorillas, The Zebras, The Lions, The Snow Leapord (with his tail in his mouth constantly. He seemed very proud of that, like FINALLY! I finally got that thing!), and the Giraffe. It was a very sweet giraffe too, and we got to have a really close and private moment with him because there was nobody in there with us at all. He seemed like he really wanted to be petted. He kept getting close to the cage and putting his knee up to it over and over, untill I started petting him. He would lower his head down, inside the cage, and like one of our horses, he would just sit there and enjoy it, and not move at all. Carlee got up on my shoulder and petted him too, but Leslie and Cassie jumped up on a fence in there, and gave him some attention as well. Of course we all didn't know what to expect, but I'm sure everyone of our family members would agree, he reminded us all of one of the horses. I put some pictures out in the Photo Gallery menu item. Cute stuff.

Girl Scout: Daddy Daughter Dance PDF Print E-mail
Written by Timothy Kulig
Tuesday, 15 April 2008 21:37
Leslie puts together the Girl Scout Daddy Daughter Dance annually, and every year she picks a new theme. This year she decided to go with "Western". Everyone came dressed up in their best cowboy clothes, cowboy hats and all. Many of the daughters were all made up in pigtails, and little pink "cowgirl" hats. Leslie did a wonderful job putting together a small menu of food including barbeque cocktail weiners, and pigs in a blanket, Leslie's famous baked beans, and other small items, all labeled with names like "Blazin beans", and every other "Western like name" they could come up with. Leslie made some music CD's with all sorts of country music, but also many of the other favorite party favorites like the "Chicken Dance" and the "Hokey Pokey". She spent quite a bit of time helping the Father's overcome their Dad-like embarassment of "other than slow dance" dance phobia. She pulled everyone up to do the group dance party favorites, and even formed a Conga line that stretched out through-out the whole place. You could hear little girls giggling and having fun throughout the whole night. Aarin and Cassie helped with the whole party as well, and I am very proud of them for having done all of that work, without really having been asked to. Aarin even helped show all the Dad's how to do the "Macarena". Aarin was dancing with some of the girls whose Dad's couldn't bring themselves to make it out to the dance floor. Two of the Mothers, and Leslie's friends Marcia Arnold and Trisha Roberts did an incredible job doing as much work as Leslie, cooking, coordinating, cleaning, etc. You couldn't ask for better Mothers.

Leslie is such a GREAT mother! PDF Print E-mail

I love watching Leslie play around with the kids. She can be strong when required, but nobody knows her tender side. She had Carlee giggling so much here when she was playing with her just awhile ago. I walked through the bedroom door to catch Leslie sword playing with Carlee (with the Star Wars Jedi sabers). It was so cute, I had to go get the camera. Although, I really didn't get the best of picture on Leslie's behalf, but I think you can get the gist of what was going on with this picture, with Leslie on the floor, and Carlee victoriously on top of her. Leslie is such a sweet mother, and she has gone out of her way to make the girls feel special, and stayed involved in all aspects of their lives. She truly touches their lives so incredibly well, that only when the girls have children of their own will they understand how much it took of their mother to have done that with 4 kids. I really love Leslie, and I recognize how lucky I am to have her.
